ACCESS' Maha Freij talks philanthropy with The Nonprofit Quarterly

How important is it for the Arab American community to be recognized as charitable givers? How can Arabs create their own charitable and philanthropic funds? Maha Freij, founder of the Center for Arab American Philanthropy (CAAP), a
project of ACCESS, is featured in The Nonprofit Quarterly discussing CAAP and Arab American giving.
"You can showcase the face of the Arab American community if you engage in philanthropy … and if we want to have an Arab American voice, we have to give outside' to other groups," Freij said.

ACCESS speaks out against new film stereotyping Arabs

ACCESS is making headlines worldwide on
behalf of Arab Americans speaking out
against racial stereotypes related to the new Sacha Baron Cohen film The Dictator. ACCESS’
Nadia Tonova is spreading the word in Hollywood, the U.K., Idaho and everywhere in
between. "It really seems to be that it's perpetuating a negative stereotype against Arabs and therefore Arab Americans," Tonova said.

Arab American Service Day is May 19

Volunteers across the country will participate in the 8th annual National Arab-American Service Day this Saturday, May 19. The event is sponsored and coordinated by the National Network for Arab American Communities (NNAAC). In cities and towns across the United States, volunteers will be staging events unique to their area, all based on the principles of strengthening communities, building cross-cultural bridges and making a positive impact on their neighborhoods.
