Wafa Salah, Board of Directors
Wafa Salah, a native of Palestine, received her bachelor’s degree in social studies
from Damascus University
in Syria.
Upon establishing herself in Michigan, she immediately became active in many
areas, following her passions. She has previously served as president of the
Arab Women Union, the United Holy Land Fund-Detroit and the Palestinian
American Congress-Detroit. She also served as secretary of the national board
of the United Holy Land Fund and as a board member of the Arab American and
Chaldean Council (ACC). For nearly four years, Salah worked as a teacher in
Amman, Jordan with the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA).
Salah is chair of the Friends of the Arab American
National Museum
committee, an honorary member of the museum’s national advisory board and a
longtime board member at ACCESS. As chair of the friends committee, she
made a significant mark in one year on philanthropic practices among Arab
Americans by raising funds in support of the newly formed museum. She also
served as president of the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC) Detroit chapter.
Recently,
Salah was recognized for her talents as a Distinguished Volunteer by the
Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) of Greater Detroit. She was recognized
by the Beaumont Health System for her work in the translation and development
of diabetes educational materials. Salah was also honored with the highest
award to be given annually by the ADC.
